Available for adoption:
Males:
Haydn
- Haydn is a 2-3 year old Male, Liver GSP rescued from Caroline County, VA Shelter (found as a stray).
He is currently 52 lbs, but should optimally be in the 60-65 lbs range.
- He is being fostered with an older male Weimeraner whom he is friendly with and doesn’t appear to be an Alpha dog.
- Haydn is crate trained and dog door trained.
- Haydn is a very sweet and happy dog, he loves people and has bonded extremely quickly to his foster parents.
- He loves to thump his tail in excitement at you and will roll over on his back so you can rub his belly.
- He is very affectionate and loves to give kisses and snuggle with you on the sofa.
- He should be crated or confined when left alone in the house as he is very inquisitive and will get
into things (especially food if he can find it).
- Haydn will need a 6 foot fence – he’s very acrobatic and will be able to get over a 4’ fence.
- Haydn is not a barker, but will howl for a few minutes when initially left confined in his crate.
- Answers to his name, knows “Sit”, “Leave It”, and “Come” (inside the house), we are working on “Stay” and “Come” (outside the house).
- Haydn sleeps on a dog bed in his foster parent’s bedroom and will stay on it throughout the night.
- He walks well on a lead/leash – not a puller and hasn’t spooked at anything out of the ordinary.
His foster mom has been running with him to burn off some of his energy.
- Haydn is good with kids, they don’t seem to phase or rattle him one bit.
- Haydn’s reaction to cats is unknown. He has shown interest in birds and rabbits when on walks
so probably best in a non-cat home.
- Haydn LOVES stuffed dog toys, especially anything with a squeaker in it. He often plays with
3-4 toys at a time, rotating his time between them. So far Haydn hasn’t shown much interest in retrieving
balls, etc. Would rather run around merrily, especially at the dog park.
- Rides well in a car – no car sickness and will settle down and sleep after a while and was a perfect gentleman at the Vet.
- Haydn is being fostered in St. Leonard, MD.
- If you are interested in hearing more about Haydn, please fill out the Adoption Application
and additional questions can be posed to the rescue.

Jake
- Jake is a 9 month old, 83lb GSP he will be neutered and up to date on vaccinations by mid February.
- Jake was turned into a shelter because his owner could no longer keep him in his apartment.
- Jake is house broken and crate trained.
- He is currently respecting a 4.5 ft split rail fence.
- Jake loves people and other dogs. He is being fostered with both a male and female GSP.
- He is a large dog and would need to room to run and play, he is not a fast or graceful runner.
- He is still young and will chew things that are not his. He does listen well when corrected.
- Jake would do well with an obedience course. He does know "no", his name, sit, down and off but he needs reinforcement especially since he is a large dog.
- He loves to be hugged and have his neck scratched.
- He is good at the vet and good with baths.
- Jake doesn't know his own strength and probably wouldn't be good with small dogs or young children.
- He is being fostered in Elkton, MD.
- If you are interested in hearing more about Jake, please fill out the Adoption Application
and additional questions can be posed to the rescue.

Gus
- Gus is a liver & white ticked neutered male, with solid liver patches.
- He is micro chipped, UTD on vaccinations, and nearly 2 years old. He is a teenager in the GSP world,
currently weighing 55 #, likely to mature to 60 - 62 #. He is on HW & Flea/Tick preventative. He is house trained & crate trained.
- Gus was surrendered to rescue for inappropriate behaviors towards humans. He needs a calm home with no children under 14 and
with people who have good dog management skills. He is doing well with three other neutered males. He enjoys playing and wrestling
with them.
- Gus loves to play fetch. He can catch airborne objects and will return them to your feet. He is such an avid sportsman,
he crouches several feet away and begs for the next throw. He's had very solid obedience training. He's remarkably compliant
on and off leash, and takes direction and correction well. He'll sit and watch your face for his next cue.
- Initially, Gus was apprehensive of noises or strange things. He still startles at various noises and barks until he
determines that no threat exists. He's anxious of anxiety and fear in humans, and will react defensively when he's
scared or cornered. Conversely, he's very comfortable and confident when he doesn't feel threatened, and he's quick
to trust and relax.
- Gus is a sweet boy who yearns to cuddle in your lap at days' end. When he first came to us, he wouldn't think of putting
a paw on the sofa. Once he's invited, he clearly enjoys the closeness and affection of the "dog pile".
- He does great in the car, at the vet, and in the bath. We've been told he's quite the swimmer, too. He loved to go jogging
with his previous, athletic owner.
- Gus sleeps well in his Vari-Kennel at night, settling immediately with a baby carrot, and remaining silent until morning.
We've been able to trust him loose in the house during our daytime errands. We have a 4 1/2' fence which he's not put a paw on,
he respects physical boundaries.
- Gus needs people who will understand his fear of the unknown and are competent with an active example of the breed. He needs
an experienced dog owner.
- He is currently being fostered in Aberdeen, Maryland.
- If you are interested in hearing more about Gus, please fill out the Adoption Application
and additional questions can be posed to the rescue.

- He is still a puppy and very active, probably too much for kids < 5 yrs old. He is perfectly fine with kids
over 5 yrs and is being fostered with kids.
- Ace is a great all around GSP.
- He is being fostered in Townsend, DE.
- If you are interested in hearing more about Ace, please fill out the Adoption Application

Trevor
- Trevor is a 2-3 yr old neutered male black and white GSP weighing 55 lbs.
- He is vaccinated, fully vetted and microchipped.
- Trevor is an absolutely handsome boy, one of our rare black and white ticked GSPs.
- He is submissive and shy and is uncomfortable around alot of noise and chaos. He is not recommended
to a home with children just because thats too much excitement for him.
- Very easy going boy, gets along with everyone. He
has gained alot of confidence in his time in foster care. He is in obedience training and has learned heel,
sit and is now learning stay. He's doing very well.
- He is playful with my 2 yr old female Shorthair, very funny to watch. They chase each other
around all day long. He is however a medium energy GSP, a simple couple of walks daily would
be fine for him. He's not hyper active, just an easy going laid
back dog.
- Not a barker and is pretty quiet for the most part. He has learned the dogdoor and uses it when needed.
- We crate him in a vari-kennel, he makes some noise at first but then settles down.
If you leave him out he will get into things.
- He is wonderful in the car, gets in the back seat and lays down and sleeps. A great traveler.
- This is one sweet, gentle boy. Can't imagine anyone not falling in love with him on sight. Lots of people
were cooing him at the Fall Reunion, he was a big hit.
- He can swim though doesn't seek the pool out on his own. But if a person is in the pool he will approach so that
you can lift him in. Unlike most dogs that you don't want swimming too close because they scratch you, Trevor has
the mindset to stop swimming when he gets close, kind of floats into you and wants to lay his head on your shoulder.
- He prefers women to men but will eventually warm up to both.
- We do not recommend young children since he can be timid.
- He also doesn't like the sound of a whistle or sirens.
- As you can see from his pictures, Trevor loves his dogbeds. He likes the people bed too.
- Trevor has been introduced to cats and doesn't seem to know what to make of them. He actually seems a little scared of them.
- We do recommend an experience dog owner for him to continue bringing him out of his shyness. We believe Trevor was mistreated
when someone tried to make him hunt. He is no hunter and has zero interest in birds.
- Trevor is being fostered in Sykesville, MD.
- If you are interested in hearing more about Trevor, please fill out the Adoption Application
and additional questions can be posed to the rescue.

Skylar
- Skylar is a 1 yr old female, weighing 33 lbs. She's a tiny girl and so very cute.
- She came as a stray from a shelter in WV.
- Skylar loves all people, including children, and dogs. She is not a dominant dog.
- She is still very much a puppy and loves to play. She's a fan of all toys. Her favorite toy is a squeaky ball, which she will chase and bring back.
- Skylar has not had any accidents in her foster home. She is definitely house trained.
- During the day, Skylar is confined to the living room and dining room of her foster home with her toys and dog bed and is very good.
- She likes walks and does well on the leash with a harness.
- Skylar is good in the yard and respects the 4 ft split-rail fence at her foster home.
- She knows sit and is learning off and no. Skylar is very food motivated and eager to please. Obedience training is a must to help her overcome her puppy ways.
- Skylar is very sweet and affectionate and has no problems bonding.
- She sleeps on her dog bed at night beside her foster parents' bed, but usually sneaks into her foster parents' bed during the night.

Holly
- Holly is a 2 yo spayed female.
- Holly hails from a KY shelter. She arrived as a stray and was not claimed.
- She is a sweet and friendly girl who enjoys meeting new people.
- Holly is doing very well with crate training and has not had any accidents in the house since the first day.
- Holly has seven foster brothers and sisters in her new home. She is tentative when first meeting a new dog,
and a bit unsure. Once she knows the other dog she does well, but prefers to have her own space.
She would be just fine as an only dog, as she does not seem to “need” the company of another dog, but,
she would also probably enjoy an active playmate as well. With proper introduction, she would probably thrive
in the company of a doggy companion. We suspect she was simply not socialized and probably lived as an only dog,
so she just needs time to adjust to a new dog.
- Holly’s crate training is going very well. She fussed at first for about ten minutes, but now settles down
almost immediately and seems to feel comfortable in her own “den”. She has been sleeping in a crate at night
and generally sleeps at least eight hours, sometimes longer.
- Holly has a healthy appetite but still needs to gain a few pounds.
- Holly is very interested in cats, so a non-cat home would probably be best. One of the dogs in her foster
home is small, about the size of a large cat, and at first, she seemed to think the small dog WAS a cat. After
a few days, she realized her error, and has been fine with her. However, she would not be a good candidate for
a family that relies on the dog park as a source of exercise, as her behavior around small dogs would be unknown.
- Holly’s foster mom is working with her on basic commands, but her new family should enroll in obedience classes
as a way to bond and establish a positive relationship from the start. She still needs to polish her leash manners
as well, but responds immediately to a quick tug on her leash. She is very eager to please.
- Holly loves to cuddle, and is happiest when curled up with her head on your lap, or, lying next to her people
on the couch. She bonds quickly and should have no issues adjusting to her new family.
- Holly’s favorite thing seems to be stuffed toys. She will pull the stuffing out, but loves them just as much
when the stuffing is gone. She will romp around tossing the toy into the air, tail wagging, a happy, happy girl.
She will fetch, but still doesn’t comprehend the “drop it” command. She prefers the game of “keep away”
but we’re working on that. :-)
- Holly is being fostered on the WV/OH border.
- If you are interested in hearing more about Holly, please fill out the Adoption Application
and additional questions can be posed to the rescue.

Carly
- Carly is a spayed, approx 3-yr-old, 45lb female GSP.
- She is sweet and gentle, but very shy, so she will require someone with lots of patience
to help Carly learn that there are nice people in her world.
- She needs a quiet setting (no young children) but is fine with other dogs and has not reacted to a cat.
- Carly came to us because she was overly shy. The shelter had picked her up and felt she needed a foster environment
to come out of her shell.
- Carly has finally emerged from her extreme shyness. For example, now she loves
to jump up on the couch to have her belly rubbed. She even "asks" for
more by pawing in the air at her foster mom. Her cuteness is irresistable!
- She also frolics throughout the yard and follows one of other dogs as if
she's trying to learn how to have fun.
- She is crate-trained, chipped, up-to-date on vaccs, and on h/w meds. To deal with her anxiety, she also is taking Fluoxitine (doggie Prozac),
which she will need to continue for a while. She used the dog door freely and is house-training.
- Carly is being fostered in Manassas, VA.
- If you are interested in hearing more about Carly, please fill out the Adoption Application
and additional questions can be posed to the rescue.

Ginger
- Ginger is a 5 year old all liver female, 50 lbs, with lots of energy.
- Ginger is a very petite female, on the smaller side. A great size for those who want a smaller GSP.
- Ginger likes tennis balls and has a high prey drive.
- She is good with other dogs and children although young children may be knocked over with her energetic play.
- Ginger does OK in the crate but is more than happy to tell you when it is time to get out.
- Ginger is house trained. She can be creative if left on her own in the house, so she needs confined.
- Ginger has jumped / climbed 3-4' fences in search of prey and her people, so taller fencing or an efence will be necessary.
- She has not been tested with cats but given the prey drive we suspect would not do well.
- Ginger bonds quickly and like most GSPs is very loving.
- She loves to play and gets very happy when she sees her toys.
- Although Ginger has basic obedience skills, bringing her into a new environment would be easier with a refresher course as
we recommend for all of our rescue dogs.
- I got to meet her at a PetSmart event and she was so, so sweet. She was very sociable with all the strangers and
more than willing to show them her toys. You can't go wrong adopting this sweetie pie.
- Ginger is being fostered in Germantown, MD.
- If you are interested in hearing more about Ginger, please fill out the Adoption Application
and additional questions can be posed to the rescue.
